Bobi Wine’s Track Record Does not Support Claim for Creation of Equal Opportunities for Youth

On his latest TV appearance, Bobi Wine promised that he would create equal opportunities for the Youth if elected President of Uganda. However,  a quick look into his management track record at both People Power and now NUP shows a totally different story.

What equal opportunities has Bobi Wine created in both the NUP and People Power movements? He alleges that he will base his tenure on creating opportunities for the youth but he has failed to do that in his own party.

When you look at the leadership structure of NUP, only his Brothers, friends and close allies have been appointed in key positions of meaningful responsibility.

When you go further and look at the appointees for NUP flag bearer, it even becomes more glaring and obscener. All potential candidates for NUP flag bearers were screened on closeness to Bobi Wine and not on merit as he preaches.

How can we then believe and trust that if he ever gets to a higher office, he would not do the same?

The same Bobi Wine doesn’t believe that we should have the level of regional development that we are pursuing by developing regional trade infrastructure like the DRC road government intends to build. How then will he create the opportunities for the people if we are to remain locked in a box? Some of these issues require the level of experience Bobi Wine can only dream of.

Regional infrastructure development projects create opportunities for our traders, manufacturers and farmers. We cannot simply rely on them to do all the hard work and let us reap from what we did not sow.

The refugee influx into Uganda also helps our regional standing. When Uganda suffered from past dictatorships, neighbouring countries offered safe harbor for our people, it is only courtesy that we too do the same for the less fortunate.
