The Governments of The Republic of Uganda and Rwanda have released a joint Communique following talks in the Quadripartite meeting in Luanda, Angola. The Communique detailed a few steps both nations are set to make to ensure that relations between them are restored.

Some of them include establishing active rebel activities and groups being supported by either state against the other and release of prisoners being held in the respective countries.

The latest talks have shed some positive light in what had become a very tense relationship between the two neighboring states.

However some doubts over the progress of the talks remains especially after the Rwandan Foreign Affairs Minister, Olivier Nduhungirehe who also served as the country’s lead in the talks posted a tweet with a sense of negative pessimistism saying “Another seven hours with our Ugandan counterparts to try to resolve the crisis between @GovUganda & @RwandaGov. Unlike the #Kampala meeting, held on a Friday the 13th, this #Kigali meeting held on #SaintValentinesDay was more conclusive with a positive outcome.”

His tone in the tweet and the continued accusations by Rwanda based media houses leaves dark clouds hanging over the talks. However Uganda remains optimistic that the talks will continue to progress and positive outcome will be achieved.
