EASF holds 33rd Policy Meeting to Enhance Regional Security

The Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) officially commenced its 33rd Policy Organs Meeting at the Kigali Convention Centre in Rwanda aimed at enhancing regional security.

During the opening session on December 17,2024, Brig Gen (Rtd) Kahuria Njema, the director of the EASF Secretariat, conveyed optimism regarding the strategic contributions expected from the EASF’s Experts Work Group.

Running up to December 21, 2024, this significant assembly aims to enhance the EASF’s operational readiness, which is crucial for promoting peace and stability across the Eastern African region.

The meeting also serves as a platform for the 10 member states to discuss strategies and initiatives aimed at strengthening their collective security efforts.

These contributions are anticipated to provide valuable insights that will inform discussions at higher policy levels. The emphasis on expert collaboration underlines the importance of well-researched recommendations in guiding policy decisions that effectively address security challenges in the region.

The 10 EASF member states comprises Burundi, Comoros, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, Sudan, and Uganda.
