A new report by the Economist intelligence Unit- London has revealed that the candidate the Opposition of Uganda will choose to contest for the 2021 Presidential seat will miserably fail.
The report which also predicts that President Museveni will win the 2021 election due to a grass root support, indicates that opposition will fight among themselves prior to the election.
“Given the fickle nature of opposition alliances in Uganda, we think that this joint campaign, assuming it goes ahead, will fall apart ahead of the election, as Mr Besigye and Mr Kyagulanyi launch competing bids for the leadership,” the report reads in part.
The Economists says that President Museveni has popular support based from his provision of service and development of the nations infrastructure. Therefore, it will make it difficult for the opposition to beat him basing on the fact that they do not have a clear strategy.
The report that was published on 5th August further says that the people power movement is gaining popularity in city centers but places the NRM on top with a national wide larger support.
The revelation and prophesy of the opposition to fall part is not new on the scene as it brings back the memories of how the opposition alliance failed in the 2016 presidential election. The alliance was marred with disagreements and fights on the choice of candidate, which later saw Amama Mbabazi and Kiiza Besigye sharing the support from the opposition.
Similar incidences are expected in 2021 which still gives the NRM party’s candidate to win with a massive slide.
