The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) have conducted a successful operation in Kailong Dam, Chamokok sub-county in Abim district, that resulted in the neutralization of two Jie warriors and recovered a bull seized by them.

This was revealed in a statement released on Sunday, August 11, 2024. According to the authorities, the UPDF troops ambushed a group of five Jie warriors who had stolen the bull from Agonga village in Alekele sub-county, Abim district, resulting in the putting out of action of two warriors.

The authorities stated that the operation, carried out by troops from the 85th Battalion of the 507th Brigade under the 5 Infantry Division, led to the recovery of stolen items.

“An AK-47 sub-machine gun (serial number 19522) with three rounds of ammunition, a pair of UPDF digital uniforms, gun oil, and a bull  seized by the warriors were recovered,” the authorities said.

The UPDF authorities appreciated the collaborative efforts of the local leadership in maintaining security within the sub-region.

On July 24, 2024, the Joint Security Forces apprehended the prime suspects linked to Karamoja murders and robberies, and one firearm was recovered with three live rounds of ammunition.
