The Territorial Police in the East Kyoga region and the Bukedea CPS have launched a manhunt for two brothers who tried to kill their mother for inviting her guy friend into their father’s home and sharing her marital bed with him.
The two culprits have been identified as Onenge Andrew and Opio Ivan, of Akaramai village, Kamom parish, in Bukedea district.
These two are wanted by police for the attempted murder of their mother, Asikeit Melidah, after inviting her manfriend, Omerikol Joseph, and sharing their father’s marital bed with him while their father, Ogwang Isaac, who is a teacher, was at his work place.
According to a press statement released on March 25, 2024, by SCP Fred Enanga, the Police Force Spokesperson, on March 20, 2024, at around 10:00 p.m., when the two siblings returned home, they found their mother and her manfriend, already sleeping in their fathers’ house, which angered them. Then they picked pangas, attacked, hacked their mother and her manfriend, and left them in a critical condition. However, the two victims were rushed to Bukedea Health Centre IV for treatment.
“We strongly condemn such acts of violent attacks against biological parents by children because mothers deserve all the respect from their children, regardless of the circumstances, and what these two culprits did is a serious abomination and wrong.” SCP Enanga revealed.
The Uganda Police Force Spokesperson added that rather than committing such a crime out of rage and anger, the two sons who are currently on the run needed to bring their concerns to the attention of their father, clan leaders, local elders, including women leaders, the church, and the Police Child and Family Protection Unit.
He further said that their act was premeditated and motivated by anger and rage, and they are both wanted for two counts of attempted murder.
