Members of Parliament from Acholi who are under the Acholi Parliamentary Forum have stated that they will boycott all parliamentary sessions starting next week.

The legislators state that they intend to travel to Apaa to confront the security personnel there for allegedly inciting the ongoing land disputes in the region.

According to the Secretary General of the Acholi Parliamentary Forum, Gilbert Oulanya, over 200 people have been killed in the land wrangles in Apaa, hence the reason why they have decided to head over to Apaa and fight for their people’s rights.

“It is so sad that the security personnel who were deployed in Apaa are the key people who are spearheading the ongoing land conflicts in Apaa,” Oulanyah noted.

Oulanyah also added that they are going to mobilise people from the regions they represent to stand up and protect their land because this might be a plot from the government to grab their land through the two security entities.

The Vice Chairperson of the Acholi Parliamentary Forum, Betty Aol Achan, expressed her dissatisfaction with the government’s failure to settle the land disputes in over 20 years.

She further called upon the government of Uganda to help the people in Apaa by protecting them, their land, and their property.
