Twaha Kagabo, a member of the 11th parliament who represents Bukoto South on the National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket, attended a caucus meeting at the State House in Entebbe hosted by President Yoweri K. Museveni, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party’s chairman.

The NRM caucus meeting, organised by the government chief whip, Denis Hamson Obua, on February 2, 2024, discussed several matters, including rationalising government agencies and public expenditure (RAPEX), wealth creation, and officially welcoming Kagabo, among others.

During the meeting, President Museveni advised legislators that if they want to be successful politicians, they should help the people they serve create wealth by educating them about the four economic sectors.

“In order to help our people out of poverty, educate them about the four sectors of wealth creation: agriculture (commercial), industry (big or small), services (hotels, transport, professional services, shops), and ICT (information, communication, and technology)—business process outsourcing—BPO’s,” said President Museveni.

The president told the caucus members that the subject being discussed was strategic, and if not done correctly and answered strategically, they were bound to be problems, but if done correctly, there would be winnings.

“If the government decides to implement rationalisation now, they will save Ugx 1 trillion per year. Because when we talk about rationalisation, it means that the entire structure of government should be designed to support wealth creators, adding that wealth creation is the issue of enabling families and companies as well as individuals to produce goods and services and sell them and do so with calculations,” the president advised.

According to sources, the president also officially welcomed Kagabo to the NRM.

Kagabo pledged to work with the ruling NRM party to improve the lives of the people he represents by following the president’s advice on wealth creation and educating them about the four sectors of wealth creation.
