Police Retires Over 200 Officers from Senior to Junior Ranks

Uganda Police has retired a total of 233 officers from the ranks of Senior Commissioner of Police to Police commissioners after clocking the mandatory 60 years of retirement.

In a colorful ceremony presided over by Major General Tumusiime Katsigazi the deputy Inspector General of Police, held at the Police headquarters in Nagaru, he congratulated the officers upon this career milestone.

“Leaving service is not the end, we appreciate that you have covered your journey. Retirement is a phase in life, now go and integrate into society., you have played your role and we are proud of your contribution, please maintain discipline,” said Katsigazi.

Maj Gen Katsigazi said that, go and improve society like you have improved the Uganda Police force, he added that you avoid alcoholism, and don’t be used by bad societal elements to commit criminal activities.

He further advised officers to engage in activities that will keep them relevant, and serve as positive ambassadors of the police in their retirement.

“Engage in effective financial services and participate actively in government programs geared towards wealth creation, ” added Katsigazi.

Police last retired senior officers at the ranks of  Assistant Inspector Generals (AIGPs) of Police and 35 other senior police officers in September 2022.
