The leadership of the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu (OBR) has distanced itself from the conduct of Maate Katindo who assaulted security personnel.
OBR acknowledges that on October 19, 2023, one of the people who had turned up to attended celebrations to mark the Kingdom’s coronation and recognition anniversaries in Kasese Municipality assaulted security personnel on duty, stoning and injuring one of the officers.
According to John B. Thawite, the Spokesperson OBR, the suspect was identified as Maate Katindo, a resident of Kyamukube Town Council, Bunyangabu district.
Thawite said that he committed the act against these officers on duty at the OBR Royal Hill, where His Majesty, Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere Irema-Ngoma, was slated to conduct coronation rituals.
“We want to make it absolutely clear that we disassociate ourselves from Katindo’s conduct and that he should be held personally responsible for his actions and we strongly deplore the act and caution our subjects against being tempted into defying lawful orders.” Thawite said.
He said that Katindo, who claimed to have come to attend the celebrations, resisted the lawful orders by the security personnel and in the process injured the officer.
“We express our sympathy to the security officer who was injured during this uncouth act and wish the officer very speedy recovery,” he added.
He is currently being detained at the Kasese Central Division Police Station.
