The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) has declared a portion of the Olwiyo-Pakwach Road unsafe for travel due to the current weather conditions that have left the road damaged.

According to the authority, Olwiyo-Pakwach Road, specifically the Tangi Bay section, has been affected by the heavy rains.

“We hereby notify road users that the Tangi Bay section of the road is unsafe because it has been affected by the heavy rains, causing damage to a line of drainage culverts,” UNRA said.

The authority said the road is currently under rehabilitation to ensure it is fit for road users before allowing them to use it again.

“Our project team is working tirelessly to ensure the road is safe as part of the forward maintenance work on the road,” UNRA added.

UNRA advised road users to drive carefully in the Tangi Bay section and to follow the traffic management instructions in place.

The Karuma-Olwiyo-Pakwach-Nebbi-Arua Road is found in the Northern Region of Uganda, connecting the towns of Karuma, Olwiyo, Pakwach, Nebbi, and the city of Arua.
