The first intake of 40  band officers was passed out at the Uganda Air Force Senior Secondary School in Katabi, Entebbe. They were undergoing the basic band course.

While speaking at the ceremony, Brig. Gen. Julius Bagonza, the director of personnel and administration, said that training in band as a career plays a key role in the success of national and international functions, ceremonies, and parades, among others.

“The president has always reminded us, the senior leaders and commanders, to train and offer opportunities to the young generation, and we are happy with the band leadership for these implementations,” Bagonza said.

Bagonza also tipped them on conscious and financial discipline in the lives of the newly passed-out band officers and reminded them to embrace training in their careers.

The band director of the Air Force, Capt. Musa Musoke Seguya, said that this is the first intake for the basic band course, which started on November 1, 2022, from the mainstream of the Ugandan Defence Forces Band at the Land Force headquarters in Bombo.

UPDF brass bands are maintained in accordance with the British traditions that date back to King African Riffle, so the Land Forces, Air Forces, and the Special Forces have their own military bands.
