During the rainy season, it’s crucial to prioritize safe driving to ensure a safe arrival at our destination.

For many people, driving is a necessity for work, errands, and transporting children. However, each time we get behind the wheel, we are taking a risk.

Millions of motor vehicle accidents occur annually, with tens of thousands being fatal. Even careful drivers can become accident victims. According to the Uganda Police Force (UPF) Annual Report of 2022, there were 20,394 road traffic crashes in 2022 compared to 17,443 in 2021 and 12,249 in 2020.

That’s why defensive driving is crucial, as it allows us to take precautions to protect our own lives and the lives of others.

Driving in the rain requires constant vigilance because drivers are responsible for their passengers’ safety.

Practicing safe driving is always the responsible choice. Drivers should always remember SAFER driving, which stands for S-Space, A-Attitude, F-Foresight, E-Eyesight, and R-Responsibility.
