Two Dead, Several Injured in Tragic Buikwe Motor Accident

On August 4th, 2023, police at Njeru station reported a collision in Kitigoma village, Buikwe District, involving two motor vehicles with registration numbers UBB 716F (Fuso Fighter) and UAY 077A/UAY 928A (Fuel Tank).

According to SP Hellen Butoto, the Ssezibwa region’s spokesperson, the Fuso Fighter with registration number UBB 716F, driven by an unidentified person, was travelling from Jinja to Kampala when it veered into the lane of oncoming traffic from Kampala, colliding with the M/Benz Fuel Tank vehicle (registration number UAY 077A/UAY 928A) heading towards Jinja district.

“The Fuso driver and turn man were killed, and their bodies were removed from the truck and taken to the hospital for post mortem,” Butoto said.

Butoto also stated that the driver of the fuel tank and the turn man were brought to Jinja Hospital in severe condition for treatment.

While both vehicles remain at the scene, awaiting towing, while investigations are ongoing, police have advised all road users to prioritise road safety and avoid reckless driving.
