A total of 56 police trainers from three police training schools of Kabalye, Olilim and Ikafe yesterday, June 13th, participated in a one-day training workshop on capacity building of trainers as part of the Uganda Police Force’s Gender Policy.
The Department of Women’s Affairs at Forensic Headquarters in Naguru organized the workshop.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Doreen Ameja, the Deputy Commandant of Women Affairs, said that the objective of the workshop was to promote the establishment of a gender-sensitive and gender-responsive force.
“The objective of the workshop was to promote the establishment of a gender-sensitive and gender-responsive force, ensuring that all police personnel are equipped to fulfill their duties at all police training schools,” she said.
Ameja emphasized the need for equal treatment of men and women at every level of deployment within the police force.
The policy aims at establishing an inclusive and gender-responsive police force that respects and upholds the dignity of women, men, boys, and girls.
