πΊπ¬ Retired Archbishop Orombi situation stabilizes
πRetired Church of Uganda Archbishop, Henry Luke Orombi was airlifted to Kampala after his health deteriorated on Monday. According to Nebbi Diocese Bishop, Pons Ozelle who told press on Tuesday that the ailing had been put on first aid to contain the unease of vomiting and so far his responding well. He added that Emeritus Archbishop Orombi is able to sit, talk now and ask sensible questions.
βWe rushed him to Nakasero Hospital at 2:00am for specialized treatment. His wife accompanied him and was by his side. When he woke up this morning, the first thing he asked for was his Bible and reading glasses,β he added.
πΊπ¬ Entebbe international airport records an increase in passenger traffic
πEntebbe international airport has recorded an increase in passenger traffic in the first two months of 2023 compared to those of last year. The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) Spokesperson, Mr. Vianney Luggya on Monday explained that Entebbe International Airport recorded 66,565 arrivals and 73,217 departures, a total of 139,782 passengers, which is an average of 4,992 per day in February 2023, compared to 3,490 per day in February 2022.

πThe field force and the counter-terrorism units of police have showcased their capabilities in combat activities in Kigo at the police shooting range. The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Maj. Gen. πPolice in Kampala are holding Ms. Joy Biira, a resident of Nabisalu Wasswa Zone, Makindye Division in Kampala on allegations of cutting off her husbandβs genitals which caused Benson Balukuβs death. During a brief statement yesterday, the Ugandaβs police spokesperson Fred Enanga advised all spouses living in conflict to always seek help on how to resolve their family differences.

πPolice have expressed their readiness to enforce the directive by the National Environmental Management Authority, to have all motor vehicles hold dustbins by the 1st of April; in a bid to avoid littering the streets as has been the case. The Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga yesterday echoed that there were planned strikes on the NEMA directives in the city hence the heavy deployment. He assured motorists to have dustbins or else will be penalized if caught littering in the city.

πAn 8-year-old boy whose rectal area was ruptured has been admitted to Kapchorwa Main hospital for treatment. The minor was allegedly grievously sodomised by an unknown suspect in Barawa cell, central division in Kapchorwa Municipality. Fredmark Chesang, the Sipi regional spokesperson says that the suspect allegedly ambushed the child while he was heading home from the shop, before dragging him to a dark spot where the suspect committed the gruesome act. He added that police has commenced investigation and the hunt for the suspect.

πThe Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA) in Uganda has opened it’s first Television Channel, Hope Channel Uganda TV, located at Adventist Centre Opposite Law Development Centre (LDC) Makerere. During its grand opening ceremony over the weekend, attended by SDA Archbishop in Uganda Pr. Dr Maka Moses Ndimukika, Elder Gideon Andrew Mutero the Vice President of Hope Channel International, jointly appealed to government to give the channel a tax holiday untill it starts making profits.
πΊπ¬ MBARARA: Multiplex Limited on the spot for delayed Road Construction Projects in Mbarara City
πLeaders of the Mbarara City Council have expressed increasing frustration with Multiplex Limited, the contractor in charge of building three new roads as part of the Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development (USMID) project. Muhammad Byansi, the Mbarara City South Councilor stated that despite being awarded a joint contract worth Shs23 billion with Ditaco International Trade in May 2021, Multiplex Limited has consistently failed to meet several deadlines for completion. The project, involves the construction of Major Victor Bwana (0.95KM), Galt Road (0.65KM), and Stanley Road (0.78KM), was initially expected to be completed by April 2021.

πA cross section of locals in Kisengya parish, Kisengya Sub County in Bundibugyo District have appealed to the RDC to investigate their parish chairperson, Mugisha Byaruhanga for purportedly embezzling Shs640,000 fundraised school funds. Locals claim that in a bid to construct a classroom block at Kisengya Nursery and Primary School, Ugx640,000 was collected through fundraising and handed to Mugisha in September 2022 but he has failed to hand it over to the authorities.

π Kenya Airways Posts Worst-Ever Loss
πIn a statement released, Kenyaβs National Carrier, Kenya Airways, stated on Monday that its losses for last year more than doubled to $290 million, the worst results it has posted in its history. The airline has been running losses for years, despite the government pumping in millions of dollars to keep it afloat. Full-year losses for the period ended December 2022 were 38.3 billion Kenyan shillings ($290 million), up from $120 million a year earlier, the carrier said, blaming high fuel costs and a weakening Kenyan shilling.

πAzimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition leader Raila Odinga has blamed Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua following Mondayβs raid of a Kenyatta family-owned land and his East Africa Spectre Limited gas plant by goons. According to the Opposition leader, Gachagua sponsored the goons to fight him and former President Uhuru Kenyatta, whom the DP has been quoted saying, is behind Azimioβs anti-government protests.
π CHAD: President Pardons 259 Jailed Protesters
πChadian President, Mahamat Idriss Deby on Monday pardoned 259 people out of the 262 jailed in December during deadly confrontations between police and protesters in the capital, NβDjamena. They had been convicted for offences including unauthorized assembly, destruction of property, arson, violence and assault during the clashes in which 73 people died. It comes days after 380 rebels sentenced to life for the death of former ruler Idriss Deby, the current Presidentβs father, were also pardoned in an apparent peace gesture.

πUS Vice-President Kamala Harris has announced $100m (Β£82m) to support the fight against Islamist militants in West Africa, while in Ghana at the start of her three-nation tour. The coastal countries of Ghana, Benin, Ivory Coast and Togo are to benefit from the package. The region has been facing security threats from the ever-advancing jihadists operating in the Sahel. Vice-President Harris acknowledged Ghanaβs leadership role on the continent and said that America was willing to invest more to promote economic growth.

πBurkina Faso authorities have ordered France 24 broadcasts off air following an interview with the head of al-Qaeda militant groupβs North Africa wing, Aqimβs leader Yezid Mebarek. Burkina Fasoβs Minister of communication, Jean-Emmanuel Ouedraogo, said in a statement that government have therefore decided in all responsibility, and in the name of the superior interest of the nation, to suspend indefinitely the transmission of France 24 programmes on national territory.
