With 3.5 billion fans around the world, football is one sport with a huge viewership across the globe.

The stylish way players interact with the ball on the field, as well as the fact that one team emerges as the eventual winner, make it as interesting as politics.

The Brazilian striker Carlos Raposo Kaiser, born in 1963, is the only striker in football history to have never scored a goal throughout his 25-year career, though he played for over nine different football clubs.

Carlos was tagged as a farce footballer since he wanted to be a footballer but didn’t want to play football, and he only befriended some footballers on the grounds of boosting his popularity and to easily secure transfers.

Carlos’ spirit has since possessed the former FDC strongman, Col (RTD) Dr. Kizza Besigye, who recently dashed into marriage with other political parties like the National Unity Platform (NUP), the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT), and the Justice Forum (JEEMA) in order to gain political capital after the death of his party, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC).

No wonder politicians start their political journeys with roars like hungry lions searching for prey in the jungle, but the unpredictable nature and complex dynamics associated with politics, which some cannot comprehend, have rendered them powerless in the political world.

Political players like Dr. Besigye have disappointed supporters after promising them change, which never comes. Meanwhile, Mr. Besigye is on a voyage to the end of his political career, but without change since 2001.

His political career is a reflection of a football striker who never scored a single goal throughout his career despite playing for 25 years.

Like Carlos, who used to sign short contracts and spend weeks in physical training to show off, Besigye and colleagues have held several meetings in Najanankumbi under the guise of resolving emerging party challenges, but all has been in vain as more party leaders continue to defect to NRM.

Scoring a goal is indeed different from running up and down the field. Players like Messi, Mbappe, and Cristiano Ronaldo should be applauded for not just scoring many goals but for also scoring them in various forms.

In Uganda, President Museveni has raised the antenna in the political space and has continued to record success in all forms, including socioeconomic transformation, strengthening diplomatic ties with other countries, and institution building, demonstrating his heroic character. He is frequently referred to as a gifted striker and dependable goal scorer.
