The government has commenced the construction of the Kyanyanda-Mbaare-Bugango 46-kilometer road in Isingiro District.

The construction works are expected to cost Ugx2.6 billion, according to the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Isingiro District, Aidah Ninsiima. She presided over the launch on Friday, January 13, 2023, at the Bugango border.

According to RDC Ninsiima, the road will connect about four sub-counties, including Rugaga, Mbaare, Bungango Town Council, and Eniizi Town Council.

RDC Ninsiima said the road will benefit a population of about 11,000 people and is expected to boost businesses in the area.

“Isingiro district is mainly an agriculturally based area. It is the biggest producer of matooke in Uganda and deals in dairy products; for instance, at least 100,000 litres of milk are produced per day.So the road will ease in the transportation of these products to the market,” RDC Ninsiima said.

The RDC confirmed that the construction work is expected to take 10 months.
