Minister for local Government Hon Raphael Magyezi has revealed to the public that all parish SACCOs will receive the Parish Development Model (PDM) money by February this year.

Hon Magyezi made the revelation while addressing the journalists 11th Jan 2023 at the Media Centre in Kampala.

“As I speak now, the  teams are on ground to investigate the parishes which have not yet received the PDM money and towards the end of February all those who applied for the fund shall be able to receive it,” Magyezi said.

Minister Magyezi stated that so far over 8,600 SACCOs have been cleared to send money to beneficiaries.

Earlier this week, the public decried the delay of the government fund to reach parishes in some parts of the country for implementation.

The minister stated that all the local government administrative structures and the parish leaders in charge of the implementation of the PDM are set to administer the model as guided by President Museveni.

PDM was launched by President Museveni on 26th February 2022 in the eastern district of Kibuku, and was allocated 490 billion where each parish is supposed to receive 17 million to help eradicate poverty in all parts of the country.

According to Magyezi, a total of 10,594 parishes are set to receive the government funds through the Co-operative Societies.

PDM is the last mile strategy for service delivery by the Government of Uganda for improving incomes and welfare of all Ugandans at the household level.

It is also an extension of the whole-of-government approach to development as envisaged under NDPIII, with the Parish as the lowest administrative and operational hub for delivering services closer to the people and hence fostering local economic development.
