Police in Old Kampala have apprehended a 40-year-old man found in possession of a sub-machine gun, live ammunition, and other suspicious items at Kisenyi Bus Terminal. The suspect, identified as David Tumwine, also known as Busoni, hails from Mubuteraniro Village in Mubende District.
The arrest occurred on December 4, 2024 around 9:00 AM during a routine search conducted by the terminal’s security team. According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, Tumwine was intercepted following a thorough inspection of his bags, which revealed not only the firearm but also pangas, a bottle of petrol, and ropes.
Owoyesigyire praised the proactive measures taken by the terminal’s security personnel, whose vigilance led to the timely apprehension of the suspect.
“The quick response of the security team was instrumental in preventing a potential threat,” he stated.
Following the arrest, police were notified and promptly took over the investigation. Authorities emphasized that this incident reflects their ongoing commitment to enhancing security at public transport hubs, especially as the festive season approaches.
