Harriet said that section 85 (a) of the Electricity Amendment Act 2020 provides for a maximum punishment of 12 years in prison or a UGX 10 million fine. Alex Asiimwe, Territory Manager for Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (UEDCL) Eastern Uganda, disclosed that the country loses not less than UGX 3 billion as a result of vandalism of electricity infrastructure.
