📌President Yoweri Museveni has said there will not be a total lockdown of Uganda over Ebola. “Regarding the Ebola situation, first of all, there will be no lockdown.” Therefore, people should go ahead and concentrate on their work without worry,” he tweeted on Friday. However, he was keen to caution people about maintaining vigilance and adhering to the measures that health officials have put in place to control Ebola.

📌Police has started piloting a new policing model basing at Sub-Counties as part of the force’s reorganization strategy. According to Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga, the force conducted a study about the proposed policing model that was advised by the President which they are now piloting in selected areas. “The key aspects of the model would involve the establishment of at least one police station per sub-county, deployment of not less than 20 personnel, deployment of motorcycle squads, installation of counter phones that are popularized among residents, dedicated counter response teams, critical facilities, modern lockup facilities, better accommodation and medical services,” Enanga said.

📌The Directorate Public Prosecution (DPP) and stakeholders in the agricultural sector are seeking to amend the laws governing the sector to make them more punitive and enable courts to seize property of people who deal in fake products. This is aimed at reducing the production and distribution of fake agricultural inputs which have damaged the sector and the economy at large .

📌Two officials from Kyenjonjo district; Adiga Aloyscious and Kalyebi Denis have been convicted and sentenced to 8 and 12 years imprisonment respectively on charges of forgery and uttering false documents. They have also been ordered to pay UGX15M each as compensation to Government.
📌This was after the duo was found guilty by the Chief Magistrates Court, Kyenjonjo of forging appointment letters, posting instructions, and introductory letters purportedly signed by the Principal Human Resource Officer, Ministry of Education and Sports, and the Education Service Commission, to secure jobs as instructors at Nyamango Technical Institute in Kyenjojo district.

📌Bazil Auta, the Parents, Teachers Association chairman of Awoja Bridge Primary School in Aukot Sub County, Soroti District has been arrested and detained at Awoja police post for extorting money from parents in disguise of PTA fund for development of the school. The illegal operation done on the 3rd November 2022, where Shs180,000 was collected from 8 homes and was not delivered to school.

📌 Yunus Ndiwalana, the Grade One Magistrate in Iganga Municipality in disagreement with the District’s Environmental Officer has acquitted 7 persons earlier arrested for degrading a wetland in Igamba village at the outskirts of Iganga Town. The trial magistrate while acquitting the accused, who had been on court bail, said the suspects had been charged in an old law which doesn’t suit the present time.

📌TotalEnergies EP Uganda signed a solar project agreement with the Government of Uganda through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development for the possible deployment of 120 MW of Solar Photovoltaic (PV) technologies. The agreement that was signed on 04th November 2022 at Speke Resort Munyonyo aims at actualizing the collaboration between TotalEnergies EP Uganda and the Ministry, towards ensuring energy security and energy transition in the country.

📌Leo Mmerewoma, the district community development officer for Kamuli district, attributes Busoga’s tribulations to a poor mindset noting that many adults and young people in Busoga seem to be comfortable with poverty because they fight some eradication interventions like family planning and education for all. Mmerewoma adds that some domestic violence cases happen after men discover that their wives are using birth control methods. “They still pride in having many children even if they cannot look after them,“ he said.

📌Uganda is set to have its first Satellite, the PearlAfrica Sat-1 launched into Space this weekend by US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) from the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport at Wallops Flight Facility, Wallops Island in Virginia.

📌The Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) has warned that Ugandans found guilty of vandalizing electricity infrastructure may face a fine of $283,764.96 (UGX 1-billion) or a 15-year jail sentence, just five years short of the Ugandan life sentence term of 20 years. 📌A one Namugaya Sophie, 30, a fish monger in Jinja but a resident of Bulubandi village in Iganga district has been charged in the Iganga Magistrates Court after Police arrested her for stealing 1.5b from a number of village saving groups in Iganga Municipality.
The trial magistrate, Ndiwalana Yunus remanded the accused until 15th November when she will be brought back in court for hearing.

📌Harvard University has recognized the work of Uganda’s judiciary for disposing of cases within the required time frame and championing wildlife protection. Gladys Kamasanyu, Chief Magistrate of Standards, Wildlife and Utilities Court at Buganda Road, presented a country report on animal law in Uganda and was also commended by the US university for taking the lead in protecting animals.

📌The CAO Budaka, Piwang Elly advised Lyama Sub-county leaders and Land Board to lobby for more land from the community for government to construct Nansanga Seed secondary school. This was during a meeting to verify 8.6 acres of land needed to construct the sees school. He explained that the school shall have classroom blocks, a football pitch, staff quarters and a laboratory among others.

📌According to the District Engineer Iranya, government in collaboration with Adler Company started a Ugx1 billion clean piped water project in Gimara Sub-county. Project Engineer Adler Company, Sentiza William stated that the project will start from the villages of Delo and Gango in Liwa parish. Gimara Sub-county Chairperson Lomo G said that the project is part of DRDIP program expected to be completed in February 2023.

📌The deputy Resident City Commissioner (RCC) in Arua city, Achile Twaibu warned all LC1 Chairpersons in West Nile against recommending non Ugandan citizens to get national identity cards. The West Nile regional police commander, ACP Serunjogi Eddy explained that some criminals are on wanted lists in their home countries and by having Ugandan national Identity card may cause an increase of criminals in the country.

📌Dr. Bright Innocent, the Kaharo Health Centre III in-charge was on 2nd November 2022 re-arrested on orders of the Kabale Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Godfrey Nyakahuma over suspected aggravated defilement. It is alleged that on 26th October 2022, Dr Bright injured the 11-years old P.7 pupil, Rinah Kemigisha’s arm using a panga leaving her with deep cuts, as well as threatening to have sex with her.

📌While at a leadership training that was organized at Kabalega Resort Hotel by the overseer of Pentecostal Churches of Uganda, Bishop Bagonza Charles, who is also the senior pastor at Kabarwana Pentecostal Church of Uganda, the Masindi district councilors led by Goodman Farouk, the councilor for Nyangahya division asked to organize a special prayer to pray for the council to enable it refocus and serve the people. He stated that the current council is composed of people full of rivalry, sexism, intrigue, hypocrisy and lack of clear vision which has caused the endless fights in the district hence affecting service delivery.
