A woman in Ibanda has committed suicide following a disagreement she had with her pastor.

The deceased, identified as Scovia Kakunda, took her life within the church building belonging to one pastor, Daniel Bukenya, protesting the non-payment of the money she lent to the pastor.

According to Colman Mulonde, the area LC1 chairman, the deceased had been requesting the return of 16 million shillings that she gave Pastor Bukenya in July. Mulonde explains that Kakunda had been a regular attendee of the church located in Kafunjo cell in Bufunda division.

Police arrived at the scene of the crime, which was filled with protestors who were attempting to vandalise the church and who demanded that the authorities take action against the church for causing noise pollution and address the allegations against Pastor Bukenya.

According to sources, gunfire logged Ibanda municipality when police used live ammunition and tear gas to disperse the protestors.
