Why Bobi Wine, NUP Should Apologize to Ssegirinya’s Family

On Sunday January 12th, 2025 during the burial ceremony for the late Kawempe North Member of Parliament Mohammed Ssegirinya in Masaka, the opposition National Unity platform party leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine as usual commanded his gang to cause chaos and disrupt the normal funeral proceedings.

The deceased being a Member of Parliament and having been supported by the Parliament during his sickness, he was entitled to an official funeral organized by Parliament in consultations with the deceased’s family, unfortunately, this was disrupted by Bobi Wine and gang in a wanton manner.

The saddest part is that the deceased’s mother Justin Nakajumba humbly requested Bobi Wine and gang to follow the normal programming but her words fell on deaf ear.

Bobi Wine and NUP had their time to do whatever they wanted and say whatever they needed during a funeral service held at their party headquarters in Kavule but they chose to unleash terror at the burial ceremony including disrespecting and humiliating the deceased’s mother as well as assaulting relatives.

The same Bobi Wine group ignored Segirinya when he was still alive, could not check on him in hospital and reached an extent of saying that he was faking sickness. Did Segirinya become their darling after his death? It is not news that Bobi Wine and gang have always hijacked funerals with impunity even when they have not been in the lives of the deceased, exhibitionism and showmanship is what they know best.

The National Unity platform party that started as a political party later turned into a gang that terrorizes dissenting voices and it is high time the government picked interest in their actions before the country plunges into chaos. Would Bobi Wine and gang accept and tolerate what they did in Masaka if at all the deceased was their own relative? Definitely no, nobody can tolerate it.

The Sunday incident further exposed Bobi Wine and NUP as a violent and intolerant group that Ugandans need to distance themselves from. They lack civility and diplomacy and any Ugandans of good will keep wondering what they would do if they were in power.

Surprisingly, none of them has taken courtesy to apologize to Segirinya’s family and Ugandans for the actions in Masaka on Sunday. Instead, they have run to social media to defend their evil acts with impunity to seek sympathy as usual.

Bobi Wine needs to know that Ugandans are not gullible, they know what they deserve and definitely will soon rise against him and his gang.
