What if Kizza Besigye is the Actual Mole Planted to always Divide Opposition?

The Katonga faction leader and former leader of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party, Kizza Besigye, has turned out to be a political nomad lately. The once-celebrated politician now hops from one political party to the other after dividing and killing his once formidable opposition party, the FDC.

It would be foolhardy for any Ugandan not to attribute the death of FDC to Besigye. He had always masterminded the internal conflicts in the party and used his confidants in the party to fight whoever did not agree with him on principle. Those that wouldn’t compromise his ways of doing things would be branded moles working with Museveni and harassed until they left the party.

Up to now, Ugandans who know the character of the most principled Mugisha Muntu have never gotten out of shock at his mistreatment by Besigye. Ugandans have waited for Besigye to prove his allegations against Muntu with no avail. For those who have worked with Muntu, it is possible for Besigye to be more of a mole than Muntu. The retired Army General is considered to be one of the highly principled Ugandan.

While Muntu was leaving the FDC, he said that time will reveal who the actual moles are. Whereas Besigye and his team promised to make FDC stronger after the forceful eviction of Muntu, the party instead went to the dogs and was damaged beyond repair. The Besigye, who had promised to grow it stronger, instead branded other members moles and left the party to join NUP for the creation of the United Forces of Change.

By the look of things, the NUP leadership understood his motives early enough and did not welcome him, well knowing his selfish nature and how he had destroyed his once strong FDC party. Having failed on his move to export his sinister motives to the NUP, he went ahead to form a new political party instead of reconciling with the Najjanankumbi. Talk of the Red Card Front, which also disappeared to a dead end that, up to now, it’s never talked about.

Ugandans remain shocked at how he continues to brand opposition politicians as moles with no evidence tables to prove his allegations. It is highly predicted that the usual fights will soon start in his new formation at Katonga since his intention is not to see a stable opposition.

What if he is the actual mole Muntu talked about before leaving the FDC? If indeed he is a genuine opposition politician strongly intentioned to bring change, why has he invested heavily in promoting fights and division in opposition parties instead of unity and cohesion?

Besigye has succeeded and scored highly in killing opposition parties and giving the NRM a soft landing. It is interesting that he normally targets the election period to promote his anti-opposition moves so that the NRM can take advantage and win. 2026 will not be any different because Besigye is already doing what he does best, the opposition is more divided than ever before, and President Museveni is just waiting for the swearing in again.

May be in the future, Besigye needs to profusely apologize to Mugisha Muntu and other opposition politicians he has innocently victimized and harassed.
