Controversy seams to surround the relatively political newbie Dr Paul Williams of the labor party in United Kingdom Parliament.
The recently little known general doctor from the UK has of recent been very vocal against the government of Uganda and has been recently increasingly involved in support of opposition politicians in the country.
He was last year very critical of the arrest of Robert Kyagulanyi after he was arrested for attacking a convoy of President Yoweri Museveni in Arua during the campaign for the Arua Municipality By Election. And had this week invited the Politician to attend a parliamentary session in which they were to debate the state of democracy in Uganda, a session which went on to flop.
The doctor cum politician, has in the past carried out various activities in the country but most notably the establishment of the Bwindi Community Hospital on the out skirts of Bwindi impenetrable forest in Buhoma, Kanungu district.
The board of governors of this community hospital is a worryingly opposition dominated, with the Bishop of Kinkizi West diocese Bishop Dan Zoreka recently coming out to say that the NRM government has lost support to the opposition in the region a claim that is clearly false given that the district has in the past overwhelmingly voted for President Yoweri Museveni and all Parliamentary seats in the district belong to the NRM party.
The President even recently commissioned the construction of the Rukungiri-Kihihi-Kanungu highway which is aimed at boosting economic and social well-being of the region.
Kanungu district already boasts of five Tea factories producing some of the highest quality tea and coffee for export and local consumption.
The region has also prospered from tourism with a high influx of tourists going to the Bwindi Impenetrable forest to track Mountain gorillas and others going to the Ishaha sector of Queen Elizabeth national park to witness the incredible tree climbing lions.
In light of this, it is very concerning and worrying that foreign forces would now be interested in distabilizing such a budding region especially after it had recovered from chaotic political conflict brought by the interrahamwe in the past, themselves a foreign power.
The people should open up their eyes and reject foreign forces of oppression and regression. They should not be misled to join fights of individuals looking to build their political careers at the expense of others well-being.
