Venezuelan Ambassador Praises Museveni’s Leadership, Seeks Alliance

During a courtesy visit at the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party Headquarters, the Secretary General of the NRM, Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, affirmed that H.E Fatima Fernandes Juarez, the Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Uganda was willing to strengthen ties with NRM and the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, the ruling party of the South American nation.

This meeting happened February 12, 2024 and Todwong said that NRM is ready to strengthen its ties with the ruling party of Venezuela, the United Socialist Party because this will boost bilateral cooperation between the two ruling parties of both countries.

‘’Despite being here for only a month, they have reached out to us, and we are fully prepared to collaborate for the mutual benefits of both ruling parties,” Todwong remarked.

Additionally, he urged Juarez to encourage Venezuelans to explore the rich beauty and diversity of Uganda.

The NRM party Secretary General further congratulated Juarez upon establishing an Embassy in Uganda and emphasized that the NRM party under the leadership of President Yoweri Museveni who is one of the most respected leaders in the world warmly embraces individuals and parties that share common interests and similar leadership doctrines as him.

Her Excellency Fernandez said that the bravery and effective leadership demonstrated by President Museveni particularly during his chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), in addressing international issues as what attracted the Venezuelan government to strengthen its ties with the NRM party.

Rtd. Maj. Awich Pollar, the External Affairs Director of the NRM revealed that the NRM party is dedicated to collaborating with revolutionary parties so as to advance their nations’ development, referring to shared principles and goals and the establishment of a Venezuelan Embassy in Uganda will bring numerous benefits, particularly in sectors such as oil exploration, an industry Uganda is enthusiastically pursuing.

“We think it was a good idea for this revolutionary party to come see us, and we look forward to strengthening our relationship,” Maj. Awich said.

The meeting between Ambassador Fatima Fernandes Juarez and the NRM party officials signifies a willingness to strengthen ties and promote bilateral cooperation between the ruling parties of Venezuela and Uganda. This collaboration is expected to bring mutual benefits, particularly in areas such as oil exploration, and reflects the NRM party’s commitment to working with revolutionary parties to advance national development.
