UWA Receives Firefighting Truck to Bolster Park Fire Management

The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) has received a firefighting truck from Joh Achelis, which will be used to extinguish park fires.

This was confirmed by the Uganda Wildlife Authority on their official X handle on Monday April 8, 2024.

“Today, April 8, Uganda Wildlife Authority received the firefighting truck from Joh Achelis,” posted on UWA’s official X handle.

According to the authority, the truck keys were handed over to Sam Mwandha, Uganda Wildlife Authority Executive Director, who was accompanied by UWA top management personnel.

UWA officials said that last week they also received a tipper truck from Victoria Motors as part of the World Bank’s IFPA-CD project.

They stated that the tipper and fire truck will be stationed at the Queen Elizabeth and Murchison Falls conservation areas, respectively.

“The fire truck will be utilized to put out park fires, while the tipper truck will join our maintenance fleet used in constructing new tracks within our conservation areas,” posted on the UWA official X handle.

Uganda Wildlife Authority manages 10 National Parks, 12 Wildlife Reserves, 5 Community Wildlife Management Areas, and 13 Wildlife Sanctuaries.
