The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) yesterday, 23rd March 2023 received a donation of two medical incubators from Stanbic Bank Uganda at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs headquarters in Mbuya.
According to Major General Leopold Kyanda, the joint chief of staff, the donation will enhance the medical services offered by the UPDF to both its personnel and the civilian communities.
“As UPDF’s health facilities take care of over 80% civilians, this donation will not only benefit UPDF but also civilians. You partnered with us during Tarehe Sita and observed how we work and interact with civilians, and that’s not the only time we treat them; they come to our health facilities regularly,” Maj. Gen. Kyanda said.
Ms. Diana Ondoga, the Manager of Corporate Social Investment of Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited revealed that the donation is part of the bank’s campaign under the slogan “Every mother and new-born counts.”
She explained that it is a corporate social investment initiative aimed at saving the lives of women through improved maternal health and premature babies.
This has come as partly fulfilment of the promise made by Stanbic Bank management during the recent Tarehe sita that was celebrated in greater Mbarara. The bank promised a donation of five medical incubators on top of sponsoring several activities.
Maj. Gen Kyanda also revealed that Stanbic Bank donated 2000 tree seedlings to the UPDF last Saturday in an effort to reforest Uganda.
