The Chairperson of the Engineers Registration Board (ERB), Isaac Mutenyo, has advised all unregistered engineers to get registered as a way to demonstrate their commitment to professional standards.

The ERB is a statutory body mandated to regulate and control engineering practice in Uganda.

He made these remarks on March 1, 2024, during the Ministry of Works and Transport address to the press on matters in the transport sector in the country.

Mutenyo noted that poor road maintenance practices are more to blame for bad roads than shoddy work by engineers.

Ecweru Musa Francis, the Minister of State for Works and Transport, introduced World Engineering Day.

According to Ecweru, Uganda will be celebrating World Engineering Day under the theme “Engineering Solutions for a Sustainable World.” on March 4.

Ecweru said it’s a chance for the engineers to emphasize their role in the world.

“It is an opportunity to celebrate engineering and the contribution of the world’s engineers to a better, more sustainable world. WED provides a platform for raising awareness of the role of engineering in modern life,” Ecweru said.

World Engineering Day will commence from March 3 to March 5, 2024.
