The Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB has issued strong warnings to schools against engaging in any form of examination malpractice.
A total of 798,771 candidates are set to sit for the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) this week on Wednesday, November 6, and Thursday, November 7, 2024.
Jennifer Kalule-Musamba, the UNEB spokesperson, said on Monday, November 4, 2024, candidates will receive their briefing today before commencing their actual exams on Wednesday, November 6, and Thursday, November 7, 2024.
Kalule emphasized the importance of the briefing session, which is crucial for ensuring that all candidates understand the examination rules and regulations.
“Any form of examination malpractice or involvement in cheating could lead to the cancellation of results for all papers taken by a candidate,” Kalule said.
She urged the public to report any suspected cases of malpractice through a dedicated toll-free hotline, reinforcing their commitment to maintaining the integrity of the examination process.
Kalule said that the board has taken significant measures to prevent cheating, including deploying over 1,200 scouts and security personnel to monitor examination centers closely.
Kalule-Musamba reiterated that all stakeholders must uphold the sanctity of the exams, as any involvement in cheating undermines the educational system and can lead to severe penalties under the UNEB Act 2021.
The special needs candidates are 3,295, with 1,677 of these being females, whom UNEB says will be given an extra 45 minutes following regulations to be able to complete their papers.
