The Executive Director of the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), Dr. Dan Odongo, has cautioned candidates against indiscipline as exams are yet to commence.

On Monday, 30th September, 2024, while addressing a media briefing at the Uganda Media Center in Kampala, Dr. Odongo cautioned candidates not to get involved in any form of indiscipline because having registered for UNEB exams doesn’t guarantee that they are untouchable.

“We also wish to caution candidates against involvement in acts of indiscipline; being a candidate does not exonerate you from following school rules and regulations,” Odongo said.

Odongo asked parents and guardians to counsel learners against the vice.

He asked school heads to handle indiscipline cases with caution, citing that direct expulsion should be the last option.

“We also ask the school administrators to first exhaust all alternatives before they resort to expulsion; as you know, after expulsion there is nothing UNEB can do for the students,” Odongo added.

In recent years, many schools have expelled students from candidate classes for indiscipline, as many have thought that after registering for UNEB they are untouchable.

From the released timetable, the UCE New Lower Secondary Curriculum will start with a briefing on Friday, October 11, 2024, and end on Friday, November 8,  2024.

The UCE old curriculum starts on Friday, October 11th, 2024, and ends on Friday, November 15, 2024.

PLE will start on November 4, 2024, and will end on November 7, 2024.

The UACE will start on November 8,  ,2024 and will end on December 6, 2024.
