The management of the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) has warned the public of individuals masquerading as UNBS staff, extorting money from unsuspecting Ugandans while promising them jobs at UNBS.

In a statement released by UNBS Management on December 11, 2023, it warned Individuals to be wary of the conmen, stating that it does not request for any payments or favours at any stage of recruitment.

According to UNBS management, the UNBS Criminal Investigations Department detained 25-year-old Stella Kobusingye, also known as Sarah Nambi, a resident of Najjera, for impersonating a UNBS employee and extorting money from unwitting Ugandans in exchange for jobs at UNBS.

According to management, the suspect was produced before the Chief Magistrates Court in Kira and remanded until January 5, 2024.

“Masquerading as UNBS staff is an offence punishable by law, and the public is advised to desist from the vice,” management stated.

UNBS Management notified the public that any available job opportunities at the Standards Body are advertised in the newspapers, posted on the UNBS website, and on social media pages.
