Kampala Metropolitan North Regional Traffic Officer SP Bruce Oinebye was recently awarded the Best Participant Award at the JICA KANSAI Centre Japan, which elevated him to the top among other representatives from nine African countries.

SP Oinebye’s decoration happened after a 20-day comprehensive training programme that focused on equipping officers with key fundamental skills related to traffic safety, targeting traffic enforcement, traffic safety education, emergency response, and engineering.

The Police Spokesperson, SCP Fred Enanga, said that this training’s core goal was to make significant steps in reducing road accidents and fatalities and enhancing road safety across the African continent.

“We are confident that the knowledge and expertise acquired by our officer will prove instrumental in addressing the pressing road safety challenges that the country currently faces,” Enanga said.

“Oinebye’s achievement in this effort is a remarkable milestone, and we wholeheartedly congratulate him for this outstanding accomplishment,” Enanga added.

In October 2020, the Uganda Police was reportedly ranked as the kindest police force in the world, according to the ranking by the World International Security and Police Index (WISPI).
