Ugandan chef Dorcus Kirabo, popularly known as Mama D, has broken the Guiness World Record after spending the most hours cooking.

Mama D surpassed the records held by Hilda Effiong Bassey, also known as Hilda Baci, with a time of 93:40:11, and Alan Fisher from Ireland, who cooked for 119 hours, 57 minutes, and 16 seconds.

Mama D, who hopes to work until December 31st, has been crowned the queen of the kitchen, as she has already completed more than 120 hours of cooking. She has also made 118 meals since she started on December 23, 2023.

Before setting out to break the GWR, Mama D ran an online kitchen, serving lunch trays and platters.

To show support, various government agencies, businesses, and entertainment industry celebrities like Eddy Kenzo, Judith Heard, and Winne Kizza have shown up in Kira to donate food and money and encourage her to keep cooking.

Thousands of Ugandans have also flocked Kira, Wakiso District, where Mama D is doing the momentous cooking to support her and, in true Ugandan style, feast on the free meals.

The GWR is a prestigious accolade to hold but doesn’t come with a cash prize, as many believe.

As they continue to provide her with material and emotional support, Ugandans continue to show her love.
