Two Eritrean Nationals Held Over Murder

Police in Kabalagala, a Kampala City suburb have arrested two Eritrean nationals for allegedly murdering their fellow Eritrean Citizen.

The suspects have been identified as Siem Fustem, a refugee and, a resident of Lukuli zone, Lukuli parish, Makindye Division, and Henok Foto, another Eritrean national, a refugee, and a resident of the same area.

Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, said the deceased, identified as Hannibal Tewelde, aged 30 years, died on arrival at Nsambya Hospital on July 9, 2024.

A preliminary police finding indicated that the deceased was first beaten by the suspects after they picked up a quarrel at My Place Bar within the AD Plaza Apartment along Kibuli Road while drinking.

The suspects reportedly hit the deceased with a beer bottle in the head and they later rushed him for medical attention at Nsambya Hospital.

Onyango noted that the suspects are currently detained at Kabalagala Police Station. The body was then taken to Mulago City Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

Police have preferred the murder charges against the suspects.
