Time for African Countries to Stop Depending on the US

I came across a post that stated, “The other continents have plans for Africa,” but Africa has no plan for herself, and these past six years have justified this statement.

COVID-19 threw us off guard; many lost jobs, their sources of livelihood, and some lost lives to depression and starvation. I think that was the first time we saw the danger of dependence.

A few years later, some donations were withdrawn from Uganda because the president signed a bill that did not favor a certain group, and now it’s the withholding of the USAID, a decision that has also rendered many jobless.

The recent TikTok ban saga in the USA distressed so many people because quite a number had quit their formal jobs for content creation, and its shutdown was like ending a project.

Beyond external support, now Africa needs to think of how to establish her own opportunities; this conversation needs to be held at home, in schools, and in places of worship.

It’s high time we dig into our wealth of wisdom and perfect the skills and talents granted to us. And this explains our foundation work in schools through teachers, especially setting the right mindset about our identity.

Limited innovation, creativity, and productivity is a symbol of trauma; therefore, Africa needs more creators and more local donors.

In Genesis 13:14-17, God required that, Abraham saw broadly. What’s your global goal? Mine is to see a non-discriminating world, a place where one’s gender and skin color are not a limitation but a strength.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has, in the recent past, been advocating for Africa’s oneness, saying it’s the only way through which the continent can achieve her economic independence.
