Suspected Killer in Custody Following Gruesome murder of 11-Year-Old Girl in Kiboga Town Council

The territorial police in Kiboga are holding a suspect in connection with the horrific murder of an 11-year-old girl in Kirurumba cell, Kiboga Town Council, Kiboga District.

In a Police statement released, SP Racheal Kawala the Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Wamala region revealed that the suspect has been identified as Madinah Nakyeyune a 42-year-old female resident of Kirurumba cell, Kiboga Town Council, Kiboga District.

“The deceased is Oliver Namanda, a female aged 11 years, a pupil at FAIRWAY Nursery School and a resident of Buzibwera cell, Kiboga District,” SP Kawala said.

According to SP Kawala the preliminary findings on June 10th, 2024, at around 10:00 A.M the victim left her home in Buzibwera cell to vend boiled fresh maize in Kiboga town, dressed in a yellow t-shirt and a black skirt.

“She never returned home, the case was reported to the police on June 11th, 2024, and a search operation was immediately initiated and on June 12th, 2024, at around 11:30 AM, a young boy who had gone to collect grass for his animals in the kibanja (plot) of Mr. Sekandi in Kirurumba cell discovered the victim’s body parts,” said SP Kawala.

She noted that the local LC1 (Local Council 1) leader promptly informed the police, and the Kiboga District Police Commander (DPC) and a task team rushed to the scene of the crime. At the scene, it was discovered that the victim’s internal organs, including the lungs and heart, had been removed, and her abdomen had been severed from her legs, which were left abandoned at the crime scene.

“The recovered body parts have been taken to the Kiboga Hospital mortuary, where a postmortem examination will be conducted. Exhibits, including the victim’s knicker and black skirt, have been recovered from the scene,” SP Kawala added.

She further revealed that the police’s canine unit was also deployed, and it led the investigators to a shrine belonging to the suspect, Nakyeyune Madinah, in Kirurumba cell adding that she is currently being detained at the Kiboga Police Station, and the search for the missing body parts is ongoing.

The police have assured the public that the police are doing everything in their power to apprehend any other suspects and bring them to justice.

The police have also urged parents to be vigilant about their children’s safety, both inside and outside the home. Further details will be provided as the investigation progresses.
