Kisoro woman Member of Parliament aspirant Salim Sultan Tana has reportedly separated from her Kisoro-based boyfriend and moved to Kampala following emerging evidence of her sexual affairs with National Unity Platform (NUP) leaders Robert Kyagulanyi, aka Bobi Wine, and Francis Zaake.
Tana, who contested in the just concluded woman MP by-election on the NUP ticket, garnering an embarrassing 900 votes, was allegedly involved in a sexual affair with Bobi Wine in order to secure the party ticket and support.
It was later established that Tana had also been a longtime sidekick to another top NUP leader, Francis Zaake, the Mityana Municipality MP.
According to a close confidant to Tana, when her boyfriend, who had been in the process of marrying her officially, got to know of her affairs with NUP top dogs, he suddenly called off the plans and ended the relationship.
The confidant further narrates that Tana is now battling depression after her sexual endeavors with Bobi Wine and Zaake resulted in a double loss for her: losing a potential husband and a parliamentary seat.
“To make matters worse, Bobi Wine is no longer picking up her calls ever since Barbie (Bobi Wine’s wife) came back from America. She feels used and dumped,” the confidant added.
Tana’s situation has reignited the rumors of the existence of sex pests at the Makerere-Kavule-based party that have always taken advantage of those in need to satisfy their sexual desires.
In March 2024, NUP’s defunct Deputy President for the Buganda region, Mathias Mpuuga, also revealed that top party leaders were sexually molesting both young girls and boys who were working at the party’s secretariat.
Tana’s situation sheds light on the alleged exploitation and toxic dynamics within party circles, raising broader questions about accountability and ethical leadership. Her personal and political losses compounded by accusations of manipulation underscore the challenges faced by women in NUP’s circle.
