Two Securiko guards have saved a lady from being killed by thugs as she was being robbed in Katwe, Kampala.

The incident happened on May 31, 2024, at around 6:00 a.m., near Kabaka’s palace in Lubiri, around Motor House. According to the eyewitnesses, the thugs attacked the lady as she was heading to Owino Market for shopping and beat her up, robbing her of UGX 10 million.

During an interview on May 31, 2024, an eyewitness named Musoke stated that as the lady was being beaten up by the criminals, she loudly yelled for help, which prompted the Securiko guards to come to her rescue.

Musoke further alleged that after the guards fired rounds into the air, the three thugs fled; one was apprehended, but later managed to escape.

“As we were chasing the thugs, two managed to escape, and one was caught. However, as we were beating him up, he undressed himself, ran away, and disappeared inside a huge trench, and that is how he escaped being killed by the locals,” Musoke revealed.

Musoke added that the thieves left behind two knives and a hammer.

“It is so traumatising that such acts of crime are happening in broad daylight, and they have increased in Kampala, hence making us feel so insecure and live on edge,” Musoke stated.

The victim was rushed to the hospital but was reportedly in a critical condition.

Residents have called upon security agencies to help curb insecurity in Katwe and the surrounding areas because these thieves come from Katwe I, Katwe II, Kiasenyi, Kisenyi III, and Kikajjo.
