The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has arrested a man who confessed to having planted and detonated a bomb that killed a top general, Igor Kirillov, in Moscow on the instructions of Ukraine’s security service.
A footage released on Wednesday, December 19, 2024, showed the interrogation of the alleged killer of General Igor Kirillov. In the video, an arrested Uzbek citizen confessed to his involvement in the terrorist attack that resulted in Kirillov’s death.
General Kirillov and his aide were killed in a bomb blast in Moscow early on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, an incident that sparked intense investigation and controversy. During the interrogation, the suspect made shocking claims about a link to Kyiv, Igor Kirillov, in Moscow.
“I came to Moscow to carry out an assignment for Ukraine’s intelligence services. And upon completion I was promised $100,000 and residency in a European country,” the suspect said.
Maria Zakharova, a spokeswoman for Russia’s Foreign Ministr, said Moscow would raise the assassination at the United Nations Security Council on December 20, 2024.
“We see that the Kyiv regime has taken responsibility once again for a new terrorist attack. All these SBU losers and the mad Kyiv regime are all tools managed by the Anglo-Saxons using a term Russia uses to describe the United States and Britain. They are the main beneficiaries of Kyiv’s terrorism,” she said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has not commented publicly on the killing. Dmitry Peskov, his spokesperson, praised the work of the Russian intelligence services in investigating the case and accused Ukraine of using terrorist methods.
