Police in Rakai district is investigating the circumstances under which a 38-year-old man killed two school-going children and afterwards killed himself too.

This incident happened in the morning of July 22, 2024, in Nsimbo Kabalaza village, Lwanda Sub County, Rakai District, and the criminal has been identified as Matthew Adolfo, a resident of Nsimbo Kabalaza village in Rakai district.

The two children who were killed by Adolfo have been identified as Nicko, aged 5 years old, and Nick, aged 7 years old, both sons of Segawa in Nsimbo Kabalaza village.

According to the locals, Adolfo found the two children going to school in the morning, attacked them, and killed them, and afterward, he went and killed himself.

They added that it was so disheartening when they learned about what had happened because, to them, Adolfo appeared normal and was not a threat to anyone around him until today.

’’We do not know why Adolfo killed these two innocent boys because he did not even have a grudge against Segawa, their father, so everything is like a mystery to us,’’ stated the locals.

During an interview with journalists on July 22, 2024, Ssalongo Matthew Kabazi, the LC I chairperson of Nsimbo Kabalaza village, revealed that Adolfo had some mental issues sometime back and he had healed; however, he had never attacked anyone before, which showed that he was normal and not a threat to anyone.

’’We all thought Adolfo was not a threat to anyone because he would interact with the locals normally; however, we were wrong, and it is so sad that Segawa lost both of his sons at once. I cannot even imagine the pain he is going through at this moment.’’ Kabazi revealed.

Police investigations are underway; however, once they are done, a statement will be released soon.
