The National Unity Platform (NUP) party spokesperson and Leader of Opposition (LOP) in parliament Joel Ssenyonyi has expressed satisfaction with the progress of works at the Africa coffee park in Ntungamo.
While speaking to the media on December 12, 2024 Ssenyonyi noted that their visit to Ntungamo showed progress of the coffee park project and unlike other projects, the progress was visible.
“Unlike other projects where the government has injected billions of tax payer’s money, the coffee project in Ntungamo shows progress and from the CEO Mr. Tugume Nelson they stand at 75% which is not bad,” Ssenyonyi stated.
Kabuye Frank, the Kassanda South Member of Parliament (NUP), echoed Ssenyonyi’s appreciation, stating that the coffee factory reflects significant progress.
He added that the MPs’ visit was valuable, as it allowed them to confirm the success of this government-private sector partnership.
In the Financial Year 2023/2024, the government of Uganda allocated resources through the Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Secretariat under the Office of the President towards the establishment of a modern industrial coffee park in Rwashamaire Town Council, Ntungamo District.
The construction works which started in October 2023, are at 75% per cent and will be completed in March 2025. Upon completion, the park will produce instant coffee, drip coffee, malt coffee, coffee energy drink and coffee beauty cosmetics.
