Prince Kasimu Nakibinge Kakungulu has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the government and security agencies for their unwavering efforts in safeguarding his grandfather, Ssekabaka Nuhu Kalema’s land in Mende Kalema, Wakiso District.
The land, which holds immense historical and cultural significance, was recently under threat from individuals attempting to illegally seize it.
During an Iftar dinner and Duwa function organized by the members of the Ssekabaka Nuhu Kalema Foundation on March 21, 2025, at the palace in Mende, Prince Nakibinge took the opportunity to thank the government and security agencies for their support in ensuring the land’s rightful ownership was preserved.
Prince Nakibinge shared that, on numerous occasions, they had reached out to government officials and security agencies to intervene after certain individuals, acting on behalf of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC), attempted to seize the land.
He commended the swift intervention of both the government and security agencies, which led to the eviction of the individuals involved.
“The Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC), through their broker Erias Kigozi, tried to use force to take over that land. However, they refused and informed the relevant authorities, which led to the removal of Kigozi and his group,” he explained.
The prince further highlighted that the land is home to a palace where Ssekabaka Nuhu Kalema is buried, as well as a community mosque, a secondary school, a primary school, and a nursery school. He also revealed that plans are underway to build a vocational school and a hospital on the site.
Emphasizing the importance of protecting such ancestral properties, Prince Nakibinge reiterated that the land will not be stolen, despite the repeated attempts to seize it.
He stressed that these efforts to protect the land are not only for the current generation but also for future generations, ensuring that its historical and cultural significance remains intact.
The prince reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the relevant authorities to ensure that the land remains secure from any future threats.
He urged all parties to respect the rule of law and the rights of rightful landowners. Additionally, he called on the public to remain vigilant and report any unlawful activities that could threaten the ownership and legacy of such valuable properties.
