President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni embarked on a visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Sunday, responding to an invitation extended by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi.
Warmly welcomed by Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, President Museveni expressed his anticipation for fruitful discussions with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the engagement of Arab investors in exploring investment prospects within Uganda.
“I have arrived in Abu Dhabi, UAE. I am looking forward to fruitful discussions with His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and to engage with Arab investors on investment opportunities in Uganda,” the President stated on his X page.
The leaders are scheduled to engage in bilateral talks on Monday, November 13, 2023. This visit follows President Museveni’s previous trip to the UAE in January 2023, during which he engaged with investors and emphasized the importance of value addition, available incentives, and pro-business conditions.
Over time, Uganda and the UAE have been solidifying their economic cooperation and enhancing business ties. In October 2023, the two countries successfully organized the 2nd Uganda-UAE Investment and Business Forum in Munyonyo Kampala. Additionally, they have previously signed several Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) to solidify their commitment to partnership.
It is worth noting that the UAE is acknowledged as one of the wealthiest nations globally, thereby highlighting the potential for mutually beneficial investment opportunities for both countries.
