President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has advised Ugandans to adopt the four sectors of commercial farming, manufacturing, services, and information communication technology (ICT) as key bullets for poverty eradication.
President Museveni made the remarks during the Women’s Day celebrations that were held in Kiruhura District on Wednesday, January 8, 2023.
The president emphasized that with the adoption of four sectors, every Ugandan is capable of getting out of poverty. He added that this can only be done if they stop making excuses and join the fight against poverty.
“All Ugandans, stop excuses. It is possible to get out of poverty. You all can get out of poverty,” he said.
He re-echoed the four-acre model on the side of agriculture, urging that one acre can be used for animal pasture for those on zero grazing, then fruits on the second acre, while the third one can be used for coffee growing, and the fourth acre is used for food crops.
“In the backyard, those interested could put poultry, a piggery and those near water would do fish farming. These are nine activities that have a huge global market that we have long ago confirmed and have a good return per acre per annum. With these, we cannot go wrong,” President Museveni said.
President Museveni also encouraged women to become part and parcel of various activities instead of sitting back and being lazy. This will help their families get out of poverty.
