President Museveni Pledges to Support Family of Former LRA Rebel Leader

President Museveni has pledged to help start a company for the family of Brig. Ali Ssalongo Kony, the son of Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) rebel commander Joseph Kony. This was during a meeting between the president and Brig Ali’s family  at  State House in Entebbe on August 25, 2023.

“We can help you set up a farm there so they work together as a company and share what comes out,” Museveni remarked.

President says all children and wives should be shareholders in the corporation.
I’m telling you what I’ve told other Ugandans. So I may use you as a model for others, he said.

Ali Kony, his mother, children, and his father’s uncle Kony Otim Thomas thanked President Museveni for returning them home to reunite with their community and said they are ready to be active citizens.

The meeting included Pageya Chiefdom Chief Rwot Yusuf Okwonga Adek III.
He congratulated President Museveni for Northern Uganda’s tranquilly, which has allowed their people to come home.
Rwot told H.E. Museveni that Joseph Kony is 62 and too feeble to fight back.

“The focus should now be rehabilitating and supporting his family to farm,” he said.
“Your Excellency, Kony’s children are yours. The family needs your help, father, Rwot Yusuf Okwonga Adek remarked.
The President vowed to help them get land to farm together and enter the money economy.

Among others, Northern Uganda Presidential Coordinator Odoch Bosco Olak attended the meeting.
