President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has on Tuesday, November 19th, 2024, commissioned the Teso Zonal Industrial Hub in the Arapai ward, Soroti City West Division, Soroti City.
The facility is currently training about 241 youths in several skills, including carpentry and joinery, bricklaying and concrete practice, metal fabrication, tailoring, and bakery.
The president noted that the hubs were established to provide skills to young people who did not get the opportunity to acquire formal educations.
He said poverty can only be eradicated through hard work and sacrifice.
According to the president, every household in Uganda should now be able to create wealth with the little support the government is offering under the Parish Development Model program.
The State House Controller, Jane Barekye, said trainees are not only being offered vocational skills but also being taught to embrace mindset change and entrepreneurial skills.
President Museveni is currently touring the region to assess the implementation of the Parish Development Model (PDM) and wealth creation activities.
Both Vice President Major (Rtd) Jessica Alupo, the Speaker of Parliament, Annet Anita Among, ministers, and other local leaders from the region attended the event.
