President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has today the 4th of January 2022 signed into law the National social security function Amendment Bill 2021.
The law will now allow midterm access to savings by those whose age is 45 and above and have at least saved for up to 10 years
Linda Nabussyi, the presidential senior press Secretary confirmed this on Tuesday January 4th 2022 on her twitter page saying
“Yes the president has assented to the NSSF Bill”, she said
This therefore means that access is granted to all eligible people above 45 years and have saved for at least 10years.
It should be remembered that the NSSF bill was first passed by the 10th Parliament in February but was returned by the president for reconciliation in September last year.
According to statistics from NSSF, only 2 million people out of 93,000 are 45 years old and above and have saved for like 10 years.
This category of people can now access their midterm funds.
