President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has hailed Polla Mixed Farm for helping him prove to the locals that there’s wealth in commercial agriculture.
Museveni is on a tour on investment and wealth creation in West Nile under the theme “Securing your future through wealth creation and shared prosperity.”
He said the purpose of the trip to the West Nile Sub-region is to once again stoke the National Resistance Movement’s (NRM) efforts of wealth creation by engaging with the people.
Museveni stated that he visited four farmers who had followed his advice of adopting modern commercial and calculated farming, which had now propelled them into the money economy.
“These farmers are proof that Museveni is not lying about the possibilities of creating wealth through commercial farming,” Museveni said.
Polla Mixed Farm, which is owned by Mr. and Mrs. Grace and Gilbert Kermundu, reaps over Shs. 100 million a year from their mixed farm despite the challenges.
The farm sits on 300 acres of land utilized for commercial fruit production, specializing in the production of mangoes, oranges, watermelons, apiary and bee products, goat rearing and piggery, fish farming, growing cereals like gnuts, beans, soya beans, and coffee farming.
He urged area residents to learn from the couple and also engage in commercial farming.
Polla Mixed Farm, located in Udhure Village, Kalowang Parish, Nebbi Sub-County, Nebbi District, is a medium-scale agribusiness company that produces food products for human consumption since 2011.
